Our courses in Egyptian Arabic dialect aim to take the student to high mastery in speaking and understanding the Egyptian colloquial dialect.

The Egyptian dialect is the most widely understood Arabic dialect due to the influence of Egyptian TV , film and music.

The course will strongly focus on speaking and listening skills, while grammar and reading skills are slowly  built up.

KURSUS DETALJER

Our course program  includes 2 modules:

  • Egyptian Arabic Dialect A (3 courses)

You can start with every course in this module right away without any prior knowledge of Arabic. We focus on speaking, speaking, speaking with emphasis on everyday situations. You will be able to use what you learned from day 1 with Arabic speakers. The courses are designed modular, so you can start with either A1, A2 or A3, depending on which is offered in the current semester.

  • Egyptian Arabic Dialect B (3 courses)

You can start with every course in this module as soon as you have completed all the courses from the previous module (Egyptian Arabic Dialect A). We focus on speaking, speaking, speaking with emphasis on everyday situations. You will be able to use what you learned from day 1 with Arabic speakers. The courses are designed modular, so you can start with either B1, B2 or B3, depending on which is offered in the current semester.

Recommended Background

We do not require students to be familiar with Arabic script, however, we recommend it. During the course the Arabic script will be introduced and successively used more and more. The aim is that the student becomes proficient in reading Arabic script gradually over the first few course levels.


Course Books

The course will be using "Colloquial Arabic of Egypt: The Complete Course for Beginners" that can be bought at Arabisk Sprogcenter for DKK 700. Payment through MobilePay or bank transfer.


Learning outcome of the course

By the end of this course, you will be able to introduce yourself, hold a basic conversation about everyday matters (traveling, shopping, directions,...). You will have gained some familiarity with the Arabic script.

Group size

We are convinced that small course groups increase the learning outcome for our students and therefore limit course group size to max. 12 students. It is however not possible to hold a course with less than 3 students and in this case we cancel the class and refund the course fee.


Course format

The course consist of one weekly teaching sessions (2 units á 45 minutes), homework and revision.


Weekly time commitment

Students can expect to invest at least 2 hours weekly outside the classroom for practise and homework. The more time invested the more the learning outcome!
